This place is awesome! I should have probably waited until the end to give the punchline but it really is. When walking thru the double doors you are taken back to and older generation. It's clear as day to that this restaurant is decades old, if the cash register doesnt give it away. The food is amazing and the rolls are out of this world. I had the stuffed pepper app. along with the Blackened Strip (12 oz) cooked medium which was perfect. I had a baked potato and a side of asparagus along with my steak. The steak had the perfect taste and the asparagus was cooked perfectly. The price is great and the service is just as good as the food. We had a small chat with the one of the ladies at the bar (maybe the owner). She said she has been there since the 60s. If you are ever passing thru Franklin, Cranberry, Oil City be sure to stop for dinner. The menu has everything; steak, chicken, sea food, veal, pasta. You won't be disappointed! Next time I am up here for work I will be back at the Yellow Dog.

SETTING: After trekking through frozen sidewalks, puddles of doom, and mountains of snow mush on a particularly awful snow day, we finally arrived at our destination. Our pants were soaked and our toes frozen from the ice water that seeped through our shoes. Right when we reached for the door, a woman inside warmly welcomed us in, "You boys made it!" I felt like we were transported into a ski lodge. Dark wood and dark furniture. Everything was dimly lit and created a more fancy sit-down atmosphere. Looks like a house was converted into this restaurant. FOOD: I got the Black and Blue--a large piece of NY strip steak with melted bleu cheese crumbles on top. Each entree came with a fresh dinner roll, salad, and a side. The steak was well prepared, and did I mention, LARGE? In Pittsburgh, I would get half that size while paying the same price. So. Much. Meat. If you know me at all, you know I ate it all. This boy cleans up! SERVICE: A bit slow, but seems like everything is made once it is ordered and to a very good quality. The women working there were so sweet. I'm a sucker for smiles and warm personalities. I think this is a family run restaurant too, which adds to the charm. IMPRESSIONS: For the price, this place is solid. It's a cute date spot if you're in the area. It's incredible how much $$$ can differ when comparing dining experiences at small towns to big cities. Thanks for taking care of us when we visited that one cold night!

We were not impressed with this restaurant, with neither the food or the service. We were a large party, which I'm sure is a challenge, but the service was very slow. Wine came a half hour after it was ordered, a kids' meal didn't show up until we were leaving, etc. And the quality of the food for the price was not at all what we were expecting. The portions were small and the food was bland. The menu, as well as the atmosphere, just reminded me of having dinner at an old relative's house or something. We were visiting family and probably won't be back in Oil City for years, but this won't be on our to-do list when we return.

Great atmosphere- terrible service. For the area it's a great place (the only place to sit down and get a real meal.) Would go back to try a few other plates and hopefully have better experience but until then, not recommendable due to lacking the basics.

Food's competently done but totally without imagination. Definitely NOT worth the trip, or awesome, unless you've been eating prison food. OTOH not bad, either, if you happen to be in Oil City and want dinner.

One of the best steaks you can get. Unfortunately the owner is such a beyotch that I will never return as long as she owns it.

A wonderful place. Janet is always happy to see us and makes great martinis. The chef is always able to accommodate my wife's gluten and mushroom allergy.

This is a lovely restaurant with a lounge atmosphere. The date is upscale (steaks, seafood, veal) so it's a little expensive but you part for what you get...in a good way! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive but not disruptive to our meal. Frank Sinatra and Billie Holliday played on the sound system and was very during for the ambience of the place. Also, when we left, one of the staff who wasn't busy was outside puling weeds from the cracks in the concrete, trying to keep the appearance of the street spic and span, which I love to see.
